Biography

DENIS BROOK

Trained as an electrical engineer, became a research and development engineer and proceeded into higher education retiring as a Principal Lecturer at the then Huddersfield Polytechnic. Master of Philosophy and Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. Began walking in the outdoors as a toddler with my father who was a keen walker and lover of the countryside to whom I owe a lot. Hence I have always had an interest in walking, hills and mountains and the countryside in general. Trekked in the Himalayas, the Andes and East Africa. Walked extensively in the northern UK, Pyrenees and Alps. Also an interest in books, especially illustrated books, and the visual arts, especially prints and print making, 3D graphics and cartography. Also a wood engraver producing prints for exhibition and sale.
