After what felt like months since we had been for a good walk, we managed to get out into the Lakes on Sunday for a well-deserved walk.
A quick flick through my copy of Great Mountain Days in the Lake District, and the walk was chosen – walk thirty-eight – Helm Crag, Gibson Knott, Calf Crag and Sergeant Man from Grasmere.

The forecast was good, and the cloud base was high as we set off early on the rising pitched path towards the summit of Helm Crag. We had the summits of Helm Crag and Gibson Knott all to ourselves, and it was only when we reached Calf Crag that we noticed someone heading towards us.
It was such a great walk, and the views of the snowy tops all around were stunning. It was one of those days that you didn’t want to end…I can’t wait for more great walks in 2010.
