Vertical Chill is situated inside The North Face Store, Manchester, and Ellis Brigham's Covent Garden Store, London. It's a refrigerated unit running through 2 floors, where there are viewing windows.
Inside at a constant temperature the real ice climbing wall is 8m in height and ranges in steepness from a pleasant slab to a drastic over-hang with everything in between; providing a variety of routes to entertain novice and accomplished climbers alike.

Unjustifiable Risk? The Story of British Climbing tells the story of the social, economic and cultural conditions that gave rise to the sport, and the achievements and motives of those that have shaped its development.
It’s the first attempt for several decades to compress nearly two hundred years of British rock climbing and mountaineering history, at home and abroad, into a single volume.

Competition Rules
- There are no cash alternatives available for the prizes listed.
- Entry to the competition should be made on the Cicerone website.
- The learn to climb session on offer is provided by Ellis Brigham. This is a 1 hour session to take place at either the Ellis Brigham Covent Garden, London store, or at The North Face Store, Manchester. The session includes hire of all equipment and a qualified instructor (one to one).
- The prize winner will be responsible for making their own way to the ice climbing venues.
- The learn to climb session is for the winner and one guest. There is a lower age limit of 14 years old.
- The winner may nominate a friend or relation as the recipient of the prize if they do not wish to go on the session themselves.
- Judges decisions are final.
