I’ve got the Lonely Planet and Rough guides. Why do I need yours?

Lonely Planet and Rough both make excellent guides. However, while their authors are often approaching the areas as visitors, Cicerone guides are written by experts who know and love the regions they write about intimately.

So there is a big difference in perspective. The LP and Rough guide is down in the valley looking admiringly up at the mountain. We are up the mountain having a good time!

More seriously, however, Cicerone guides are the detailed guides for walkers, trekkers, mountaineers and cyclists. We are best at this. For more general visiting information, these other guys may well be better.
