A pleasant, easy ramble around one of our local reservoirs which provides a safe haven for wildlife. Pick a nice warm day as this is a high, exposed area. It isn’t much fun picnicking in a gale. Don’t forget the binoculars!

  1. Leave your car and walk towards the reservoir and along the unmade track (complete with vehicle barrier) to enter the popular picnic area. Walk through here and then over the stone wall stile on the left to go between trees.
  2. You soon emerge on an elevated path beside the reservoir. Cross the boardwalk which spans the inlet of the reservoir. Now the path veers left and trees take over once more.
  3. Soon reach a wall stile. Go through this and turn L onto a quiet road which runs around the reservoir (walk on the right-hand side, facing oncoming traffic).
  4. In a short while the road turns sharp L across the dam wall and back to the start.
