Welcome to the second volume in the Rural Rides series of cycle rides. Once again we have put together a collection of rides through some of the most beautiful and varied scenery that Surrey has to offer. There are rides here to suit every level of cycling experience, and all of them will take you to fascinating places you probably never knew existed, many of them inaccessible by car.

The spectacular heights of the Surrey Hills, the rolling downland of the north of the county, the lonely, low-lying fields of the Weald – where else could you find such a rich variety of landscape within a few miles? A host of delightful small towns and quiet villages mean there’s plenty to explore, and you’re sure to be tempted by some of the welcoming country pubs along the way.

We can certainly promise that you’ll see more of nature than most other people will see in half a lifetime: deer, foxes, squirrels, countless rabbits, and many other creatures – not in an artificial setting, not at a distance, but close to, in their natural habitat.

We are so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful countryside, and with this guide and a bike you can really make the most of it.
