Rural Rides No.2 – East Surrey

The family cycle rides in this guidebook, all around East Surrey, are graded from easy 9-milers to challenging 20-25 mile days out, and are in the country between Dorking and Lingfield. Rides start at Forest Green, Broadmoor Hill, Capel, Reigate Heath, Burford Bridge, Margery Hill, Outwood, Lingfield and Botley Hill.

Come with us and explore our wonderful countryside on your bike. We'll take you along peaceful country lanes, down half-forgotten paths and trackways through fields and woods; and along the banks of rivers and canals. You'll discover unspoilt out-of-the-way places that most people will never find. You'll see the natural world of the country at close quarters, with its endless variety of trees and plants, birds, farm animals, and wild creatures like foxes and deer.

We've planned these rides to be suitable for ordinary people, including families with children, so you won't need to be an athlete to enjoy them. The shorter routes of up to 10 miles are ideal for a half-day's outing, while the longer rides will suit those looking for something more ambitious. Or, if you want an even greater challenge, you can always combine two or more of the routes into one ride!

Whichever ride you choose, you're certain to discover new sights and you'll probably see a few familiar places in an entirely new light. All the ride descriptions include fascinating stories and background information about the places and features of interest you'll pass along the way, as well as providing clear and comprehensive directions to keep you on the right track.
