Route 19, p122

Revised route grade: 1/2

Revised route aspect: E, N, W, S

Map: new text supersedes route on map p123

(text below replaces the paragraph ‘Return to the Col de la Forclaz…’)

Return to the Col de la Forclaz but do not take the steep ridge up ahead. Go left (south-west) and down a little in the direction of the ski lifts that you don't actually see, then zigzag up through the forest past the Chalais des Anglais, which is marked on the 1:25,000 map. From here reach a clearing, with the ski pistes on the right, and head up left towards the arête, which is quite narrow and separates the valley of St Gervais from the valley of Chamonix. The arête can be corniced. You can then reach the summit of Prarion. Take the time to stand and stare at the wonderful panorama spread out in front of you. Descend by the same route.

Route 20, p123

Revised route aspect: NW, S

Map: new text supersedes route on map p123

(text below replaces the sentence ‘Climb the obvious summit…lift station’, p124)

From the Bellevue lift station do not go directly to Mont Lachat. Follow the Tramway de Mont Blanc rail line under the summit to the col on the other side of Mont Lachat and go up in zigzags from here.
