Guidebook to walking the northern part of France's Haute Savoie to the south of Lake Geneva to the Swiss border including pré-Alp areas Saleve, Chablais, the Valle Verte, with Evian and Morzine amongst places to stay. 30 walks including local summits and ridges, but generally straightforward terrain.

Seasons

June to October. There may be snow high up May and into June, and refuges close in mid-September.

Centres

Access through France and Geneva. Bases include Salève and the Vallée Verte, Thonon, Evian, Adondance, Morzine and Bellevaux.

Difficulty

Half- to full-day, mid-level alpine walking. Some exciting bits, but suitable if you are uncertain about walking in the Alps.

Must See
