'The author rewalked this route in 2006 to prepare this, the fourth edition of this guide. It has all the virtues of the previous editions, with the addition of some alternative routes. The photographs are numerous and most descriptive of the route. There are route profiles that, as well as doing the job of profiling, have neat symbols for camp sites, huts, refreshments, cable cars, buses and trams.

This is a wonderful two-week walk. Great Alpine views from medium-height passes are combined with walking through old-style Valasian villages to create perhaps the best of the major Alpine walks.'
