The first few walks in this guidebook are on the Isle of St Mary’s, taking in a town trail around Hugh Town, a stroll around the Garrison, then more extended walks around the coast and along the nature trails of St Mary’s.

The rest of the islands are visited with Gugh and St Agnes being explored in turn. Short chapters describe some of the smaller islands and groups of islets and rocks; and as visits must be on boat trips, no walking routes are described.

With their mild climate and relaxing atmosphere, the Isles make an ideal destination with stunning scenery, rich bird life and myriad wildflowers. Basking in sunshine, rising green and pleasant from the blue Atlantic Ocean, fringed by rugged cliffs and sandy beaches, they reveal their charms to those who walk the headlands, sail from island to island and take time to observe the sights, sounds and scents of the landscape.

• all walks are illustrated with OS mapping
• lots of background information on the history, geology and ecology of the Scilly Isles
• practical information on public transport services and accommodation
