eBook

eBooks purchased from the Cicerone website can only be read on:

PC Windows and Apple Mac OS X
eBooks available from the Cicerone website are in the Adobe eBook (AEB) format, secured with Adobe Digital Rights Management. To read your eBook you'll need to have the Adobe Digital Editions software installed. (A full list of supported compatible devices can be found here.)

eBooks purchased from Cicerone can be printed, but only from the computer that you download your eBook onto.
Apple iPad
Read your eBook on the go using the Cicerone Guides Ipad App - available free via the Apple App Store.

Just enter your 'My Cicerone' account details into the App to download your eBooks purchased from Cicerone. Each 'My Cicerone' account is limited to 2 iPads.

Note: It's not currently possible to print via the iPad App, but you can always do this via your computer before you travel.

eBooks available from other online retailers

MOBI - A format available from Amazon for use on their Kindle device. Amazon has free Apps available for iPhone, PC, Mac, iPad and Android.

EPUB - A universal file type that can be read on many devices. Our EPUB eBooks are available from a number of online eBook stores.

A few online retailers such as ebooks.com and kobobooks.com provide free Apps, that allow you to view the eBook on additional devices such as the iPhone and tablets.

We are currently working to convert our full range of guidebooks into MOBI and EPUB formats. A growing number are currently available in the Kindle store and on some online eBook stores, with more guidebooks being added each month.
Please note that books purchased from retailers other than ourselves can not be printed.

Buying your eBooks

You can purchase options from our site on the book details page. Select the Printed book, eBook, or If you buy both versions at the same time then you get a whopping 50% off the price of the eBook!

You can add as many eBooks to your order as you like, and once payment is complete you will be able to download them straight away to your PC, Mac, or iPad.

eBooks are shown in your basket using this icon.

For Mobi and Epub versions you will need to purchase your ebooks from a different retailer.

Paypal Users

You can buy our books using paypal. After paying for your eBook you should follow the link back to our website to collect and download your eBook.

To return to our website from Paypal Follow the "Return to Scottish Book Source Ltd" link. (Scottish Booksource warehouse and distribute our guidebooks) You will then be able to download your eBook.

Downloading your eBook onto an iPad

This should be done within the Cicerone ipad app

Downloading your eBook to PC or Mac

Please ensure that you have Digital Editions Installed before downloading your ebook.

Our ebooks are protected by Digital Rights Management software. You will need to register your copy of Adobe Digital Editions in order to download and view them.

You will only be able to print from your eBook on the first download. Please ensure that you download your eBook onto the computer that you would like to print from.

Once your payment has been accepted you will be taken to a receipt page. At the bottom of this page is a link for you to click on and download your eBook. (See picture below.)

Finding your eBook in your 'My Cicerone' Account

You can also download your eBook through the ‘My Account’ button.

To read your eBook you'll need to have the Adobe Digital Editions software installed. Click on the link to download the eBook to your PC or MAC. More details about how to download your eBook onto an iPad can be found here.

Adobe Digital Editions should automatically launch and your eBook will appear in the library.

If you have problems locating your eBook

Try checking in Digital Editions folder situated under My Documents. If the eBook is not showing here then look in your downloads folder. You may need to click on the icon in your downloads folder to start the final download process, the book should then be visible in the Adobe Reader.

Note - Please be patient when your book first appears in the Adobe Reader, it can take a few minutes for things to get going.

Printing

Printing is available on ebooks purchased through our website only. If you buy from other retailers you will not be bale to print your ebook.

In order to print your book please ensure that;

1) you have donwloaded and registered a copy of adobe digital editions before you collect your ebook.

2) you only cick to download your ebook once

3) you collect your eBook on the PC or MAC that you wish to print it from.

Our UK books that contain OS Mapping are subject to Royalty Payments To Ordnance Survey. Customers may only Print their ebooks once as further copies are liable to data usage charges from Ordnance Survey.

If you would like to view your eBook on more than one computer, the best way of doing this is through Adobe Digital Editions. If you have registered this program on your computer then you will be able to access your eBook library on more than one device. Please contact us with any problems or questions that crop up.

Returning your eBook

Unfortunately there is not yet a way for customers to return eBooks to us. Please ensure that you have chosen the correct book before you complete your purchase.
