Ireland

The ‘Emerald Isle’, green, beautiful, with a mild climate and friendly people. There are enormous possibilities for walking in Ireland, and the Cicerone range of guides covers The Mountains, The Irish Coast to Coast Walk and no less than 54 walks along the scenic coastline in Irish Coastal walks.

The mountains are relatively small, but many rise directly from sea level. The Irish coast is indented with bays and narrow inlets, offering the walker that wonderful combination of hills and the sea. There are some good long ridge walks, and countless opportunities for full- or half-day routes.

Easier walks take you up smaller hills or by way of exciting coastal walks, river and canal towpaths, quiet country roads, and the network of long-distance Waymarked Ways. One thing is for certain, you will find the paths quiet and the landscape breathtaking.
