Not necessarily. We were looking for an umbrella term for all our international walking guides that weren’t centred in the high mountains, and we noticed a strong tendency for them to be in sunny places, where the vita is dolce.
So we came up with the term ‘sunshine guide’. It’s hot; some routes and areas are much easier than others. The routes are generally at a lower level, but some – such as those in the guides to Mallorca, Crete’s Mountains and areas such as Southern Catalunya – are in high, rugged terrain. So it’s a mixture of grades, some straightforward, some quite stern.
