In the north eastern side of South Africa lies a 620-mile range of mountains, the Drakensberg. The scenery is probably the most spectacular in South Africa, a mixture of rugged peaks, scarps, pinnacles, forest, waterfalls and rivers. The variety of wildlife and birdlife is exceptional, and the region also has over 22,000 examples of San rock art across 600 sites.
