For many years it was weekends in Derbyshire, long weekends in Snowdonia, weeks in the Lake District and summer holidays in the Pyrenees, Alps and Rockies that provided the antidote to academic life in the midlands. As many people have found, mountain walking brings renewed equilibrium as well as good health. The discovery of a little known winter walking area in Southern Catalunya in 2005 brought a new project: to explore and describe three massifs so other English speaking walkers could share our pleasure in their beautiful limestone scenery. Walkers are needed to keep the paths open and since publication in 2010, it has been a real pleasure to encounter English speakers with our guide in their hands.
