Author Highlight

"The middle of Hampshire is a vibrant land with sloping tree-clad hills and sweeping chalk downland – all set against the backdrop of a fascinating history and unique geology. When you add the vast array of wildflowers, plants and wildlife that inhabit the various Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) – in particular Stockbridge Down (see Walk 11) and Chilbolton Cow Common (see Walk 14) – it is not difficult to understand the attraction of a place that so completely defines pastoral England."

- Malcolm Leatherdale, author of 15 Short Walks in Winchester
