Seasons

Walking in the Isle of Man is best in Spring, Summer and early Autumn, but walkable year round and Read More... milder than the UK mainland. Avoid TT week.

Centres

Douglas, Ramsey, Castletown, Port Erin, Peel, Kirkmichael.

Difficulty

Mainly coastal walking with short ups and downs. Stages up to 15 miles long.

Must See

Point of Ayre, historic Laxey, the cliffs and secluded bays and inlets of the south and west and Read More... the remote west coast. Sea life and birds.
 
 

Isle of Man Outdoor Leisure Maps, North & South.

The maps in this guide are sufficient to enable you to walk the Raad ny Foillan, but you will need to step off the route from time to time. A map of the island will help you to obtain the maximum enjoyment, replenish your supplies and be sure of your nearest point of help in the case of an emergency. Along with the map you may need to take a compass (and know how to use it).

The Official Tourist Map of the island contains town plans at a scale of 1:60,000.

The Isle of Man Public Rights of Way and Outdoor Leisure Maps North and South marks the Raad ny Foillan and the shorter footpaths, the Millennium Way, the Bayr ny Skeddan, and the the Heritage Trail (10½ miles from Douglas to Peel along the route of the old railway), at a scale of 1:25,000. It is a wonderful map for detail that you can enjoy in your armchair afterwards. Almost every cove and headland is named, every field drawn and places of historical interest identified. The contour lines, imaginary lines passing through all places of equal height, are at 100ft intervals.
