Seasons

These walks can be enjoyed all year round. While summer is busy, the Norfolk coast and Broads are much quieter in winter, although some routes may be muddy underfoot on occasion.

Difficulty

Norfolk has few hills to worry about so the walks here should be manageable for most abilities. There are occasional stiles and gates to contend with but otherwise the walking is easy. Some footpaths through farmland may be overgrown in late summer or muddy after rain.

Pristine sandy beaches sheltered by pine plantations; tidal creeks and mudflats filled with wading birds; huge expanses of saltmarsh purple with sea lavender; flint-built former fishing villages; the watery flatlands of the Norfolk Broads peppered with windmills; an abundance of medieval churches; strolls through historic streets lined with medieval buildings.
