Walk 17 no longer exists as described in the guidebook. The authors suggest that it is best (and safest) for readers to follow Walk 16 instead (it is a shorter route in the same area).

Due to cliff erosion, the path is closed West of Carvoeiro. A diversion has been put in place but is not advertised when walking East to West (as in the book). On page 126, after "Keep left on the road; after the restaurant and car park" it is no longer possible to "leave the road on a narrow path to the left". Instead, continue on the road past the restaurant (R. Do Paraiso), bear left at next junction (still R. Do Paraiso) and turn left at next junction into R. de Vale Currais. After about 300 metres a path off left is clearly signed as the alternative cliff path, it descends a stream valley and emerges at the coast after about 300 metres. In the book text, you are now just after "Descend steeply to the ravine" (end of paragraph one in page 126).

They would love to share their passion for walking with others. Nike went to journalism school and Jacint is a keen photographer. Nike and Jacint live in Guildford and when they are not walking in one of their favourite mountain ranges somewhere in Europe, they enjoy exploring the diverse trails in the Surrey Hills close to their home. And when they are not out walking they offer a personalised travel planning service, details of which can be seen on Nike and Jacint's website: www.trailnotes.co.uk.
