Update to Ronda- Arriate Section (page 69)
A section of the section in Ronda has been blocked by the Los Merinos Development which has been hugely controversial with locals. There have been numerous marches and protests in defence of public rights of ways to try to project the section which is supposed to cross the property of the golf course hotel and country club complex.
The owners have however built a stone wall right across the route making it imposible to follow the original route. We have been told though that this year the Andalucian Federation for Mountain Climbing (la Federación Andaluza de Montañismo) has managed to signpost a new route around this section using an old road which breaks off just before arriving at Cuevas del Becerro and follows a route from its Cañada Real until Cerrato. Alter this you can rejoin the route as described in the book.
Abunuelas - Restabal (p191)
As you leave Saleres the book advises to use the road marker to Restabal.
However, the original track is still there and does not go through new building
developments as previously thought.
As you arrive at Saleres from Albunuelas, carry on down, keeping to the
right, until you reach a low bridge over the river. Cross the bridge
and climb the broad concrete track for about half a mile. On your
right is a building. On your left there is a low and rather battered
GR7 post and a narrower track going down to the left. Take this track
and it will lead you to Restabal. Much more pleasant than the road!
