The Near Eastern Fells of the English Lake District comprise the mighty range of hills, including Helvellyn, that lie between Ambleside and Threlkeld. The area is flanked to the west by Grasmere, Dunmail Raise and Thirlmere, and to the east by the Kirkstone Pass, Patterdale and Ullswater. Steep western slopes contrast with long dales to the south and east, and the region provides great scope for a wide variety of day walks. Author Mark Richards combines his passion for the Lake District and artistic flair with all the information the experienced walker needs to explore and enjoy the Near Eastern Fells.

For each of the 35 hills covered, this guide offers:
•    a dedicated chapter, with full descriptions of a range of new and old routes
•    full-colour Harvey maps and clear elevation diagrams
•    detailed summit panoramas
•    lots of inspiring photographs.

This guide is one of the first to be published in Cicerone’s 8-volume Lakeland Fellranger series, which provides a comprehensive new guide to the fells of the English Lake District, with a selection of new routes up more than 220 hills.
