Covering 225km (140 miles), this long-distance hike follows a Cathar trail through the French and Spanish Pyrenees. Some sections of the trail are long and somewhat demanding, so a reasonable level of fitness is required for the trek.
The route is described from north to south in 10 stages, each between 16 and 36km (10–22 miles) in length.

Seasons
As this trail crosses the Pyrenees, which are blanketed in snow in the winter, the best time to walk the entire trail is between May and October.

Difficulty
The trail is divided into 10 stages and each stage finishes in a village or town where accommodation can be found. There are some long stages/days that can be divided and options for shortening these stages are mentioned in the book. A reasonable level of fitness is required for the trek.

The recommended accommodation at the end of Stage 8, Refugi Vents del CadĂ is permanently, with no plan to reopen next spring. So at the moment it is best to book an accommodation in Baga.
