Summer 2010

The following problems have cropped up this summer.

Walk 28 The last part of this walk is closed. Chains and notices have been installed. Part of the buttress supporting the canaleta has collapsed and this is not apparent to anyone following the route and standing above the damaged section.

Walk 29 The central part of this walk is closed, therefore the walk cannot be completed as a circuit. Chains and notices have been installed. Part of the buttress supporting the canaleta has collapsed and this is not apparent to anyone following the route and standing above the damaged section.

Walk 55 Only the first half of this route can be completed. Access to the summit of Es Teix has been closed and the mountain is used year-round for hunting. It is no longer possible to cross the mountain and descend to Sóller.

Walk 56 The main circuit can be walked, but the alternative route and spur to the summit of Es Teix has been closed and the mountain is used year-round for hunting.

Walk 65 S'Esclop p300

The descent described in the book is now unpassable. The area that this walk used to pass through has new owners who have fenced everything off. Please be aware that this does not become obvious until you have followed the descent for some time. Anyone climbing s'Esclop will therefore have to descent the same way as the described approach.

The government have, however, bought what was once a private estate and completely opened it up to the public. Paths have been cleared and marked, including one onto s'Esclop. This is not yet detailed in the guide but the information will be updated when it becomes available.
